On January 30th, 2024, Paratrooper Patrol 646 was conducting a mission on the outskirts of Khan Yunis in Gaza. During what began as a house scanning operation to create a sterile corridor for forces, Noam Fridman and his team faced a situation that would change their lives forever.
The team was searching a house when they encountered resistance on the second floor. Three soldiers were wounded and an officer was shot in the head, falling in the second-floor living room. After a difficult battle and initial evacuation of some wounded, Noam’s team returned to rescue the fallen officer. As they moved up to the second floor, with Noam second in line, a grenade was thrown at them. The explosion killed Noam’s partner and left Noam seriously wounded.
Noam, a resident of Gush Etzion, is blessed with a strong family: his wife Gaia and their three children – Sarah (5.5), Malachi (3), and their newest addition, baby Shilo, born on August 20th. Throughout the war, Gaia has shown remarkable strength, supporting Noam and caring for their family.
Thanks to your generous donations, the Fridman family has been able to address their immediate needs:
- Moving to a more accessible home due to Noam’s injured hand and Gaia’s pregnancy
- Purchasing a dishwasher to help with daily tasks
- Buying a new safety seat and stroller for baby Shilo
- Covering the costs of Shilo’s brit, including the venue, food, and arrangements
- Acquiring new bedding and clothes for the children
- Installing two home heating furnaces
- Purchasing a pre-built sukkah for Sukkot, as Noam’s injuries prevented him from building one himself
- Taking family outings
“This new baby is the real victory for me!!!” Noam shared after Shilo’s birth. Your support has helped the family maintain their daily routine during this challenging period, allowing them to focus on what matters most – being together and healing.
The Fridman family continues to face each day with courage, and your contributions make a real difference in their lives. Thank you for standing with them during this difficult time. Your generosity helps ensure they have the support they need as they navigate their new circumstances.
