Repairing Homes, Rebuilding Lives

Home is more than just four walls—it’s a place of safety, comfort, and dignity. Unfortunately, for many vulnerable individuals in Israel, including Holocaust survivors and families living in poverty, their homes have become a source of hardship. Through our partnership with Tenufa Bakehila, we are changing this reality by providing essential home repairs that transform lives.

Hope for Holocaust Survivors

In August 2024, your donations enabled Tenufa Bakehila to make life-changing repairs for five Holocaust survivors. The work ranged from fixing peeling walls and sealing leaks to replacing toilets and repairing plumbing systems. While each repair might seem minor, these adjustments have had a profound impact on the survivors’ quality of life.

  • Yafa, an 83-year-old Holocaust survivor from Ashkelon, had her cracked and peeling walls repaired and her apartment repainted, restoring warmth and security to her living space.
  • Rachel, a 95-year-old survivor in Ramat Gan, had a toilet repositioned to ease her daily transfers from her wheelchair, significantly improving her comfort and mobility.
  • Gidon, born in 1939 and suffering from cognitive deterioration, had his home in Ashkelon transformed with painted walls, sealed leaks, and a repaired kitchen counter, bringing safety and care to his environment.

The gratitude expressed by these survivors is deeply touching. Simple repairs—like a new faucet or freshly painted walls—bring relief, joy, and dignity. These stories remind us that small acts of kindness can have an immeasurable impact.

The Work Continues

Our work with Tenufa Bakehila is far from over. The needs in Israel are still great, and many more homes are waiting for critical repairs. With your continued support, we can reach more families and Holocaust survivors, ensuring they live their lives in comfort and safety.

Together, we are not just repairing homes—we are rebuilding lives. We are giving people the dignity and peace they deserve, making the world a better place, one home at a time.
