In the wake of the October 7th tragedy, countless families face an uncertain future. Among them is Hani Verdi, a mother of four from Sderot, whose husband, lost his life responding to the call of duty.
Her husband, Command Sgt. Maj. Adir Shlomo, was 47 and Head of Logistics, for the Sderot Station. he was the first person to arrive at the police station in the morning of October 7th and was the first to be killed.
Adir was a happy and calm person. He was described as someone with a smile on his face who would do anything for anyone. And he did until his very last breath, giving up his life to protect Israel.
Recently, Hani reached out to express her profound gratitude for the financial support that has become a lifeline for her family:
“Thank you very much for your help,” Hani began, her voice carrying both sorrow and appreciation. “Your contributions have truly touched my heart and are making a real difference in our lives.”
As a newly single mother of four children – aged 18, 16, 12, and 6 – Hani suddenly faced not only emotional turmoil but also significant financial challenges. The loss of her husband meant the loss of the family’s primary income, leaving Hani wondering how she would provide for her children’s needs.
This is where your generosity has made a tangible impact. Your donations have helped cover basic necessities like groceries, utilities, and clothing for the growing children. With a child who just entered first grade and others in various stages of schooling, educational expenses were a major concern. Your support has ensured that the children can continue their studies without interruption.
Contributions have aided in covering rent and mortgage payments, providing stability during this tumultuous time. Perhaps most importantly, the financial assistance has allowed Shani to focus on her family’s emotional healing without the added stress of immediate financial ruin.
Shani expressed how this support has been a source of hope: “You excite me and make me happy, despite the pain I have been through,” she shared. “It is very difficult for me, but your help allows me to keep going for my children.”
The impact of your contributions extends beyond mere finances. For Hani and her children, it represents a community of care, a reminder that they are not alone in their struggle. It provides not just monetary relief, but also emotional sustenance, knowing that strangers have chosen to stand with them in their time of need.
“Thank you so much,” Shani concluded. “We will hear only good things from here on.”
As Shani and her children navigate this challenging new chapter of their lives, your continued support remains crucial. It’s a powerful testament to how collective generosity can provide a buffer against hardship and foster resilience in the face of tragedy.
Let us continue to rally around families like Hani, honoring the memory of those lost by ensuring their loved ones are cared for. Your donations are not just figures on a page – they are beacons of hope, lighting the way forward for those who have lost so much.
