Israel365 Races to Plant Trees Before the Sabbatical Year

The recent flare-up with Hamas combined with the brutally hot summer weather in Israel made the Holy Land a target of dangerous arson attacks that destroyed countless forests throughout Israel. “Our enemies destroy, but we build. They try to uproot, but we will continue to plant” said Rabbi Tuly Weisz of Israel365.

The planting and replanting efforts of Israel365 this summer were assisted by campers at the Israel365 Summer Camp who braved the heat, rolled up their sleeves, and picked up shovels. “Our girls learned a lot about the importance of trees to Israel,” said camp counselor Yakira Bienenfeld “and they loved getting their hands dirty and seeing the fruits of their labor. It was unbelievable being able to make such a permanent mark on our country like that. We got to literally and physically be part of building Israel.

For years, Israel365 has been planting trees in Judea and Samaria to beautify the Land of Israel and fulfill Biblical prophecies. It says in the Book of Amos, “And I will plant Israel upon their soil, nevermore to be uprooted from the land that I have given them (Amos 9:15).” God’s promises cannot be undone, even though there are many actively seeking just that.

Tragedy struck the forests which we planted a few years ago in the small town of Bat Ayin, on the border with many Palestinian towns in Judea and Samaria. Israel365 immediately agreed to replant the trees since tending and harvesting the fruits of these trees provided livelihoods for several local farmers. To further complicate matters, the biblically-decreed Sabbatical Year is nearly upon us and once the Sabbatical Year (“Shemita”) arrives with Rosh Hashana in September, planting and harvesting in Israel will cease for an entire calendar year, and so we have to act fast.

In recent weeks, Israel365 has begun planting trees in other locations in Judea and Samaria including Gush Etzion and Kiryat Arba near the important Biblical city of Hebron.

If you have not yet had the opportunity to plant a tree in Israel, now is the time to put your roots in the Holy Land, leaving an eternal legacy for years to come. Please partner with Israel365 to replant trees throughout Israel before the Sabbatical Year begins by clicking here.
