More than seventy-five years after the Holocaust, many of Israel’s remaining survivors still carry the scars of their past — not only in memory, but in the daily struggles they face today.
Most of these elderly men and women came to Israel with nothing, rebuilt their lives from the ashes, and helped shape the country we know and love. Yet now, in their final years, too many are forced to live in heartbreaking conditions — in small, crumbling apartments, with leaky roofs, broken plumbing, peeling walls, and no one to help.
And over the past two years, life has become even harder.
Since the attacks of October 7, 2023, Israel’s elderly have lived with renewed fear, anxiety, and deep emotional pain. Many survivors have been retraumatized — memories they tried to bury have resurfaced, and the sense of safety they had worked so hard to build has been shaken once again. With so much national suffering, resources are stretched thin, and the quiet needs of Israel’s poorest elderly are too often forgotten.
These survivors have endured enough suffering for one lifetime. They should never have to face poverty, loneliness, or unsafe living conditions again. That’s why your support means so much.
At Israel365, we believe it is not only our privilege but our sacred responsibility to care for those who carried the torch of faith and resilience through history’s darkest times. Every act of kindness, every donation, is a way of saying: “You are not forgotten. You are loved.”

Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to partner with Tenufa Bakehila, an incredible Israeli organization that rebuilds homes and restores dignity for Holocaust survivors and other impoverished elderly residents. Together, we are turning despair into hope — one home, one life, and one act of compassion at a time.
Because of you, twelve Holocaust survivors who were living in unsafe, deteriorating apartments are now surrounded by comfort and care. From Kiryat Gat to Jerusalem, Bat Yam, Sderot, Hatzor, and Ramle, your donations repaired cracked walls, replaced leaking pipes, fixed lighting and plumbing, and brought warmth back into homes that had grown cold and broken over the years.
Meet Sam from Kiryat Gat — a survivor whose health has declined since losing his wife. His apartment had become unlivable, but your kindness made it possible for Tenufa’s team to repair the walls, install lighting, and create a safe room for a live-in caregiver. Now Alfred is no longer alone — and his home once again reflects his dignity.
In Jerusalem, Sara’s solar panels burst on a freezing night, leaving her without hot water. Because of you, she now has a new system and the peace of mind that comes with it. And in Bat Yam, Michal’s home was transformed — walls repaired, plumbing replaced, light restored.

These are not just home repairs — they are lifelines. They are reminders to our survivors that people around the world still see them, care for them, and honor their strength.
To every donor who made this possible: thank you.
Without your compassion, we could not continue this vital partnership with Tenufa Bakehila. Because of you, Holocaust survivors across Israel are living out their final years in safety, warmth, and dignity — surrounded not by decay or despair, but by light, love, and hope.
But there are still many more survivors who need our help.
If your heart is moved to do more, please consider joining us again — so that together, we can reach even more of Israel’s elderly and restore the dignity they deserve.
