For the Jews who keep watch over the flock

They Give So Much.
Give Something Back.

Every night on the hills south of Jerusalem, fathers kiss their kids goodnight, zip up their coats, and walk out into the cold to protect Jews in their homeland so their neighbors can sleep safely. Somewhere in those long hours, they need a warm place to sit, eat, and thaw out before heading back out.

The Pina Chama gives them that. Help keep the coffee hot and the doors open.

One Night on the Ridge

Tonight, a Jewish Father Is Standing Watch in the Cold

He tucked his kids into bed, read one more story, and walked out the door into the dark.

Now he’s on a windswept ridge at Givat HaEitam, south of Jerusalem, in the hills where young David once tended his father’s sheep. Below him, Jewish families sleep in homes that stand as living proof of Jeremiah’s promise: “Your children will return to their own land” (Jeremiah 31:17).

The hours are long, and the wind doesn’t let up. Somewhere around 2 a.m., he pulls out his phone to look at a photo of the kids he just tucked in.

When he steps inside the Pina Chama for a break, the coffee is hot, real food is waiting, and someone is glad to see him. Twenty minutes later, he’s warm enough to go back out and finish the night.

That little bit of warmth can change his entire night. And it happens because of people like you.

A Home Away From Home

What Is a Pina Chama?

Pina Chama (pee-NAH khah-MAH) means “warm corner” in Hebrew. It’s a small, welcoming space where the men who spend long nights watching over these hills can come in for hot coffee, a homemade meal, and a few minutes of quiet.

Winter here is colder than most people expect. Nights on these hills drop close to freezing, and some years bring snow. Inside, for a little while, the cold stays outside.

Nearly 4,000 years ago, not far from these same hills, Abraham saw three strangers approaching his tent and ran to bring them water, bread, and a place to rest (Genesis 18:1-8). The Pina Chama carries that same welcome into the cold of the night.

Keeps Them Going.
