In Biblical Judea, on the hills overlooking the road between Jerusalem and Hebron, IDF soldiers pull overnight shifts. When their shift ends, they have nowhere to sit, eat, or recover.
The Pina Chama changes that.
But it stays open only with your support.
Givat HaEitam connects western and eastern Gush Etzion. Just south lie Solomon’s Pools. A few miles north sits Bethlehem. The soldiers on this ridge do more than protect a neighborhood of 15 pioneering families. They stand watch on the hills where David kept his flock. They guard the corridor that forms Jerusalem’s southern gate.
Jeremiah wrote about this land: “Your children shall return to their country.” That return is happening right now on this hilltop. These soldiers are part of it.
Help keep them strong enough to keep standing watch.
Pina Chama means “warm corner” in Hebrew. The concept is simple: a dedicated space where soldiers can step out of the cold, sit down, and eat a real meal. Hot coffee. Homemade food. Four walls that aren’t a guard post.
It matters more than it sounds. Rest, warmth, and proper nourishment between shifts aren’t comforts. They’re operational necessities. A soldier who hasn’t eaten, hasn’t sat down, and hasn’t had a moment away from the post makes worse decisions, fatigues faster, and carries a heavier psychological load. When you support the Pina Chama, you strengthen the soldier.
The Pina Chama at Givat HaEitam serves the soldiers who guard this neighborhood around the clock. It depends on your support to keep going.
The Pina Chama is helping soldiers. Your support keeps it that way. Here’s what your gift provides:
A real space off the post, out of the wind. A place where their shift ends.
Hot food and drink between shifts. Not army rations but real, comforting food.
A chair. Quiet. A moment to breathe before heading back out.
These soldiers aren’t asking for much. A warm corner. Something to eat. The knowledge that someone out there knows they’re there. Your gift delivers all three.
You can also support our efforts through stock donations and legacy giving.
